Dress Trashin In St. Augustine

Still playing catch up on my blogs...

Fawn & Dan had a small ceremony in St. Augustine late last year, and decided they wanted some more photos of them together in their wedding duds a little while after the wedding.

I met up with Fawn and Dan in January (it was actually pretty warm that day, unlike the past could of March days!!) Here are a couple of my favs from their session :)

Jenny's All Wet

So... We had the best time trashing Jenny's wedding dress... actually we didn't do all that much damage to it, it was pretty dirty already, if anything all the rain cleaned it up! LOL

Choosing fav's from this session was NOT easy! There are so many funny and awesome shots! Here are a few favs...

Look for the "out takes" in the slideshow!! It was buggy out and Jenny was a great sport!!! She even rescued me from the rain!! And I can't forget Christy who hates bugs more than anything she held the umbrella for me while we shot in the rain!!!! AWESOME girls!!!

We Wanted A Pool But Settled For Rain

Yep, the plans were to head to the Dr's Lake estate that I use from time to time, but due to some minor complications we were unable to use that location. SO I took Jenny to where I grew up... good ole Granniema's place! We had just gotten into everything Jenny was getting super comfortable, Christy ran from the gnats that were attacking her... and sure enough DOWNPOUR!!!! UGH, Grandma had even brought out the tractor for us to use! booooooo rain...

We still got some fun shots of Jenny all wet, which was the plan in the first place :)

If only everyone knew what was on the other side of this fence, if anyone has been there with me or knows where I grew up... ya'll know that Jenny is feet from...... (dramatic dum, dum dummmm) Dead People..... lol

And as many of you know, if you read the blog or follow along on myspace, I'm in the middle of a revamp, logo, blog, photo signature etc etc... This revamp includes how look at my photo editing, what techiniques I use what I want to showcase... I tried a little something new here, well not new but out of the norm for me... and I frankly love it!!!!

Tara's so Trashy...

Can I just tell you how cool my secondary photographer is. She got married last month, in Vegas, during Viva Las Vegas.. She takes great photographs, paints custom shoes, makes clothes for dogs... and got married in a black and white wedding dress with a sweet black blusher veil!!!

And in case you didn't know this is what my wedding dress looked like...
Is it becoming obvious why we get along...

Tara and her now hubby currently live downtown and spend loads of time at Starlight in 5 points so when I suggested we do her session there she said it was perfect!

Here are my favs from Tara's Trash The Dress Session... (I'd have had more favs if I could have afforded to fly out to Vegas with her and take them under the pretty lights, but 5 points is the home town second best!)

As with all my clients I asked Tara what song she'd like to use for her slideshow... and she says can I pick ANY song... in which I replied of course!!!

Tara chose a fast rockabilly song by The Reverend Horton Heat (this song was her second choice the first choice I couldn't find anywhere!) The record this comes off of is "Holy Roller" I ironically enough, we took some photos by graffiti that said Holy Rollers on it!!!! too cute!

Moms Got To Love 'Em....

Oh mercy, I have no idea where to start with this thing. I've never been good at putting my thoughts down on paper for the world to see. I'm a new photographer in Jacksonville, FL. I've been in business since January of 2007 and I feel like life has been a roller coaster since. I've faced hard learning curves and a little adversity in my small time period of owning a business but all in all I'm happy with what I have achieved.

I figure what better way to start a blog than to tell a story that everyone who has a Mom can relate to. My Mother, for those that know me and her that's really all I have to say to describe SO much! But she's an amazing woman who raised two girls all on her own for many years. She's a beautiful and wonderful woman that is always very encouraging, loving, and supportive of her children. My Mom is very supportive of my work, but sometimes I think that she sees what I do with the eyes of a Mother. They are after all a little bias of their children, and what their children do are often seen as better than what anyone else could do simply because they are their child. While my Mom has this same syndrome going on when it comes to me and my sister she's still real enough to tell us when something we do stinks, and to give constructive criticism which is something I love about her.

Recently, I did a "trash the dress" shoot which as most know is a trend that is quite literally sweeping the nation. I had posted them on MySpace along with the majority of the rest of my work and had gotten really good reviews. My Mom, bless her heart, has a MySpace to keep up with her girls. She doesn't log on 5-6 times a day like I do but she gets on there enough to keep up and see what we are up to. Even manages to comment on a few of my photos that she likes. (Mom moved to PA about 6 years ago) I value my Mothers opinion as she is a very artistic woman and I credit a lot of my artistic ability to her, so I asked her to please comment on my recent photos from the TDD session. We were on the phone at this point and going through the various photos on MySpace, and Mom said the cutest thing ever. "Jessica I really like most of these, but most of all I like the creativity behind the idea" she went on about the dress and how I had come up with such a unique idea to "trash" it. She was so excited! She went on to warn me about other stealing the idea cause it was so unique, etc etc etc.... It almost broke my heart to tell her that trashing the dress was not my idea and was in fact a nation wide thing, that many or most of the photographers now a days were doing it. Her response was "oh..... well the photos are really good"
